What Does It Mean to Serve on the DFW-ABA Board?

DFW-ABA's Executive Board provides the leadership, stewardship, and strategic direction necessary to move our mission forward. Explore each board role below to learn how our volunteer leaders contribute to the organization and what is expected of those who choose to serve.

Board service at DFW-ABA is active service. Our governing board is an all-volunteer leadership body responsible for protecting the organization’s mission, strengthening its infrastructure, providing strategic direction, and helping move the work forward. Board members are expected to prepare for and participate in meetings, collaborate across organizational functions, follow through on commitments, exercise sound judgment, and serve as stewards of DFW-ABA on behalf of its members and community.

Serves as the chief volunteer leader and Board Chair of DFW-ABA, providing strategic direction and helping ensure that the organization remains aligned with its mission, governing documents, and long-term priorities. This role leads meetings of the governing board, works closely with officers and committee directors to maintain accountability and organizational alignment, and serves as a primary representative of DFW-ABA with members, partners, sponsors, and community stakeholders.

The President is responsible for keeping the board focused on governance rather than day-to-day committee activity, identifying issues requiring board direction, supporting effective succession and leadership development, and ensuring that organizational decisions advance the broader interests and sustainability of DFW-ABA.
